Hip-Hop’s Nice List – Rappers Who Gave Back for Christmas.

Meek Mill Holiday Giveaway
PHILADELPHIA

Christmas Acts Of Kindness Done By Rappers

During the Christmas season it’s not uncommon for people to “pay it forward” for their community. All over the country rappers have been hooking up their neighborhoods for the holidays. Artists who are household names and artists who are fresh on the scene showed out for their hometowns, whether you’re Kanye West or Morray – you’re never too big for Christmas cheer.

Meek Mill

Meek Mill might as well be the Mayor of Philadelphia. A few days before Christmas, Meek held a Christmas giveaway where kids got MacBook Air laptops, bikes, games, and winter coats. In most cities, artists would attend a Mayoral gift giveaway, but in Philly – the Mayor and Police Commissioner attended Meek Mill’s giveaway.

According to 6ABC, more than $500,000 worth of gifts was donated using the support of Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, Roc Nation and Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Meek Mill has also donated $30,000 to the Philadelphia chapter of Twelve Days of Christmas, “a volunteer organization that aims to equip families in need with supplies to enjoy the holidays.”

Boosie

Rap’s “bad boy” Boosie was trying to work his way off the naughty list by giving out Christmas gifts in Baton Rouge to more than 1,000 people. According to Revolt, Boosie hosted a giveaway which the constable and distinct attorney of East Baton Rouge attended. This isn’t the first time that Boosie has been in the Christmas spirit, he has a number of Christmas songs to pair with his good will.

Yella Breezy and Gunna

Both Yella Breezy and Gunna held toy drives in their hometowns. Breezy held down Houston and Gunna held down Atlanta. Both artists coordinated with non-profits to hook their communities up. According to Revolt, Gunna gave “$150 Walmart gift cards to 750 registered families in College Park,” and by the looks of Yella Breezy’s Instagram – he did the same.

Morray

Morray was one of the hottest new rappers in 2021 and he’s made sure to pay that positivity forward for his hometown. Similar to Gunna and Yella Breezy, Morray went on a Walmart shopping spree for the people of Fayetteville. The Fayetteville Observer said that Morray and local social media star Vic Blends “posed for pictures and signed autographs for anyone who wanted one” and gave away thousands in gifts.

Ye

Chicago Alderman Stephanie Coleman told Chicago’s WGN9 that Ye (aka Kanye West) was responsible for purchasing the majority of presents at a toy giveaway in Chicago. More than 4,000 toys were given away at the Kennedy King Gymnasium in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

Alderman Coleman highlighted to WGN9 that “some are without their fathers due to gun violence, due to mass incarceration, so today, we are here being a blessing.”
