The Forbes richest hip hop artist list may have just gotten a bit bigger.

Last week, we learned that Jay Z is the closest to officially becoming the first hip hop artist to reach $1 billion net worth, followed closely by Diddy and Dr. Dre.

Now there may be one more artist to add to the list.

It is being reported that Amazon is acquiring a surveillence camera/doorbell called Ring for a total of $1.2 billion. The rapper and his partners saw the potential in the startup company early, and as part of Queensbridge Venture Partners they had invested some money into the company. The deal brings what could be a big payday for Nas.

Other investments that company has made in the past include Lyft, Dropbox, and Rap Genius.

The company released a statement following the sale.

“Ring is committed to our mission to reduce crime in neighborhoods by providing effective yet affordable home security tools to our Neighbors that make a positive impact on our homes, our communities, and the world. We’ll be able to achieve even more by partnering with an inventive, customer-centric company like Amazon. We look forward to being a part of the Amazon team as we work toward our vision for safer neighborhoods.”

This comes two months after Amazon acquired Blink, another doorbell survelance system.

No word on exactly how much Nas will be paid on the deal, but we are sure it will definitely be a good sized bag.
