Who is the king of New York?
Tekashi69 set the New York rap scene on fire recently after claiming on Instagram that he was the king of New York.
Since then several artists have come forward to debate that comment and put themselves in the conversation as the “king.”
On Monday (March 5), Joey Bada$$ decided to put his name into the conversation. On Instagram stories he showed the world that he was working.
“All that king talk is cool and all but I just made 100+ racks yesterday off features,” he wrote. “Another quarter mil off ghostwriting. Another 120k off an endorsement (front end). Not to mention the half a mil I brought in from touring about a month ago, plus I’m going on tour AGAIN in April. Plus another 300k in royalties coming in this month…Sheesh and that’s just the first quarter.”
Other artists have come forward to give their take on the “king of New York” debate including A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Dave East.
