Time is really flying. 15 years ago today on November 14th, 2003 Jay Z released ‘The Black Album’. Back in 2003, this album was introduced to the world as Hov’s last album because he was due to retire from hip-hop.

The most significant thing about this album, which happens to be his eighth studio album, was the recurring theme of Hov’s retirement. You often heard in songs like “Encore”, “Moment of Clarity”, “What More Can I Say” and more. In honor of staying true to his retirement, Jay Z filmed a documentary called “Fade to Black”, that recounts his life as an artist.

The film also featured the making of the album and his sold out concert at Madison Square Garden, where he had some special guests including Beyonce, Ghostface Killa, Memphis Bleek, and more.

Although Jay didn’t stay out of the game for too long, fans were given a classic with “The Black Album”. What’s your favorite song from this album?
