The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you informed on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:

Nipsey Hussle:

As Nipsey Hussle’s family and the hip-hop community await for him to get justice, his loved ones have another serious legal matter on their hands. Nip’s family is fighting for custody of his 14-year-old daughter, Emani. Her mother, Tanisha Foster, feels the family turned on her, while Nipsey’s family thinks she’s an unfit mother. A Los Angeles Court Superior judge set a trial date for April 27.

Grammys:

The Grammys are a few weeks away, and we might get a performance from Jay Z alongside DJ Khaled. The organization announced artists like Bad Bunny, Mary J. BligeLizzo, Steve Lacy & more are set to blaze the stage. The award show kicks off on February 5.

Young Thug:

Jury selection should be going down this week in Young Thug’s YSL Rico trial, but it hit a bump in the road. Last week, young Thug’s co-defendant, Kahlieff Adams, was caught on video doing a drug exchange with Thug. Thug’s lawyer says his client had no idea that was going to happen.

Kanye West:

Kanye West was seconds away from putting his hands on the paparazzi. Ye was out with his new wife, Bianca Consori, and he was annoyed photographers were snapping away. Kanye said, “The media doesn’t have a right to just, boom, pop up,” Then I have no say so in the shot. It’s not just that. It’s the entire media. Y’all find out where we are at. Y’all take this photo. What percentage of the money do we get off these photos?” Do you agree?

Jay Z vs. Eminem:

Who’s impact is bigger in hip hop, Jay Z or Eminem? On Shaquille O’Neal’s The Big Podcast, Jamal Crawford said Hov’s legacy can’t be compared. He said, “Jay-Z’s effect on Hip Hop is bigger than any album sales Eminem will have. That’s just how it goes.” 50 Cent chimed in via social media and said “ha Bullsh*t.”
