This is so disgusting.

According to sources, some LAPD officers are being investigated for allegedly circulating a George Floyd Valentine’s Day Card that said “you take my breath away.”

An LAPD officer reported the incident to internal affairs, which lead to an investigation. The officer who submitted the complaint will be interviewed as well as others. Chief Michel Moore told the LA Times,  “Our investigation is to determine the accuracy of the allegations while also reinforcing our zero-tolerance for anything with racist views.”

Ben Crump, a well-known civil rights lawyer representing Floyd’s family in a lawsuit against the city of Minneapolis, said in a statement the family was “understandably outraged” about the insensitive card.

Floyd, was a Black man who murdered at the hands of Minneapolis police, Derek Chauvin. Chauvin placed his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes last year. Everything was captured on video, and you can hear Floyd say several times, “I can’t breathe.” This ultimately led to the 2020 modern-day civil rights movement, which became global.

Given the tragic, traumatizing, and horrific nature of Floyd’s death, mocking his death is cruel and racist.
