While some states are figuring out plans to reopen their economy, other states are putting health first.

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman called for the city to reopen yesterday (April 22). However, Goodman failed to provide social distancing guidelines on how to reopen the economy safely.

When asked about providing a guideline she said, “they better figure it out, that’s their job.” Goodman told CNN,

“Right now, we’re in a crisis health-wise, and so for a restaurant to be open or a small boutique to be open, they better figure it out. That’s their job. That’s not the mayor’s job.”

Although Goodman repeatedly called for Vegas casinos and other businesses to reopen, she doesn’t have the power to reopen them! There is a plan to reopen Sin City, however, there has to be a decline in Coronavirus cases for 14 consecutive days. Businesses also have to send in reopening plans at least seven days before resuming operations. Businesses also have to comply with all prescribed local, state, and federal COVID-19 health requirements.
