In a recent interview, 20-year-old Lil Nas X opens up about his sexuality and the difficulties that come with it.
Earlier this year, the Old Town Road hit maker revealed that he was gay. He sat down with CBS’ Gayle King and admits that in the beginning, he hoped this was all ‘just a phase.’ He says:
“I knew. Especially around my teenage years, I was just like, you know, praying, praying, praying that it was like a phase. Yeah, go away.”
Lill Nas X shared how being gay as a teenager was an issue:
“I mean ’cause, me been in this position, it’s easy for me, but, like, some little boy, ten miles from here, it’s not going to be good for him.”
In the clip, he says his fame made it easier to come out however there is so much work to be done.
“Me being in this position, it’s easy for me. But some little boy 10 miles from here, it’s not going to be good for him.”
We still have a long way to go, because it’s not like everybody is messing with me now. ‘Of course, somebody who’s listening to me in school right now, it’s like, ‘You’re gay, cause you’re listening to him.’ There’s still lot to be done.”
