Lil Uzi Vert has a lil’ legal situation on his hands that is coming to a close.
Last July, Uzi’s ex-girlfriend, Brittany Byrd, accused the rapper of alleged abuse. She claims Uzi assaulted her and threatened her with a firearm. Byrd said Uzi allegedly put a gun to her stomach and then struck her in West Hollywood, California.
Uzi pleaded no contest to one count of felony assault with a firearm and one count of misdemeanor injury. According to TMZ, Uzi was sentenced to three years of formal probation, one year of mental health and substance abuse treatment, and 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling. In addition, Uzi must also pay restitution and comply with a 10-year criminal protective order.
In addition, per TMZ, Uzi entered a plea bargain after prosecutors charged him with three felonies: assault with a firearm, criminal threats, and domestic violence, as well as one misdemeanor charge of carrying a loaded firearm. Pitchfork reports that “with this misdemeanor plea deal, Uzi has accepted responsibility and is turning his attention to the next chapter.” Uzi hasn’t publicly spoken out on the matter as of yet.
On the flipside, Uzi’s music continues to flourish. Chart Data reported on February 6 Uzi’s “Eternal Atake” has now spent 100 weeks on the Billboard 200.
