As he was hyping up the crowd before performing “Money Longer” at London’s Wireless Festival (July 1), Lil Uzi Vert was seen picking up a phone thrown on stage and hurling it back into the crowd. Although the act was purely for his safety and out of good humor, the phone struck TikTok user @ccornonmycob (Drilla G) in the head. She revealed the bloody aftermath later on social media. In a report by XXL, a source close to the situation issued a statement confirming that Uzi did not intentionally target the cell phone at any individual. The statement continues, “He merely attempted to clear the phones from the stage, [to] avoid slipping and safely continue his performance.” Prior to the incident, fans threw multiple cellphones onto the stage that inadvertently struck Lil Uzi Vert. Along with the bloody images that surfaced on the Internet, Drilla G, the woman who got her head smashed in by the phone, shared with TikTok users, “There was someone else but I do not want to mention him in case it is not permitted.” Thankfully, no one suffered serious injuries. Additionally, the phone was brought back to its owner.Drilla G was quick to receive backlash from the media with commenters asking why she didn’t move out of the way. In her TikTok video, she explained how tightly packed the crowd was. She continued, “There was no space to move. Even if there was, I think the reaction time with the phone landing wouldn’t have been enough to move out the way in time.” Drilla G pointed out that even if she did move out the way, someone else would have been hit regardless. On her page, she shares graphic images of her blood-soaked hair and a video of her being escorted out of the venue by security.
