These lawyers ain’t loyal.
Lil Wayne claims that his long-time lawyer Ronald Sweeney, was overcharging him for more than a decade. Reported on TMZ, Wayne says that Sweeney was charging “hefty fees.”
Sweeney was getting 10 percent for every deal he helped close but he should have only gotten 5 percent. He had tried to get an additional 10{93d4e656f9b4a61cbcf798611f0c18eb5fe89d9c268b5112a3a9a32e8f9a3b72} from Wayne’s label, Young Money, but that never happened.
Sweeney got another law firm involved to try to get the record label money. The firm got 23{93d4e656f9b4a61cbcf798611f0c18eb5fe89d9c268b5112a3a9a32e8f9a3b72} of the Cash Money settlement and 15 percent of the Universal Music Group settlement.
