Police chief Steve Conrad has been fired, after the killing of Black business owner, David McAtee, once it was discovered that the officers involved in his death did not have their body cameras activated."This type of institutional failure will not be tolerated," said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer after the shooting. "Accordingly, I have relieved Steve Conrad of his duties as chief of Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).""We lost a wonderful citizen named David McAtee," said Fischer. "David was a friend to many, a well-known Barbecue man. They've nurtured so many people in their bellies and in their hearts before, and for him to be caught up in this, not to be with us today is a tragedy."Yesterday we report that on June 1st, David McAtee, the owner of YaYa’s BBQ, in Louisville, Kentucky was shot and killed by the police after shots rang out from the parking lot where his business is located.According to reports, police and soldiers fired back at the unidentified suspects around 12:15 a.m. McAtee’s mother, Odessa Riley, stated that her son was a pillar of the community. “My son was a good son. All he did on that barbecue corner is try to make a dollar for himself and his family,” she continued. “ And they came along and they killed my son.”A crowd protested while grieving the death of Mr. McAtee as they gathered on the corner on 26th and Broadway.May he rest peacefully.https://www.instagram.com/p/CA6tyKDFwxl/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
