March 2021 Trial Date For 4 Ex-Cops Who Murdered George Floyd

The fight for justice for George Floyd continues.

Reported on Fox 5, Judge Peter Cahill set the trial date for the four ex-cops involved in the murder of George Floyd for March 8, 2021.

The former officer who had his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, Derek Chauvin, was arrested four days after the killing. He’s charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. He’s being held at a state prison on $1.25 million bail.

The other three officers involved in the murder are Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane. They have been charged with aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter. Kueng and Lane posted bond on a $750,000 bail and have been released from jail. However, Thao is still behind bars on $1 million bail without conditions or $750,000 bail with conditions, according to a report.

Throughout Chauvin’s career on the police force, he has been the subject of 10 conduct complaints and three police shootings that resulted in no disciplinary action. He also had a lawsuit against him regarding allegations he violated a prisoner’s federal constitutional rights.

It’s not clear if the officers will be on trial separately or together.
