Michelle Obama is giving high praises to her baby girls.

The forever First Lady appeared on The Ellen Show earlier this week. During the segment, Michelle gave an update on her daughters, Malia, 23, and Sasha, Obama, 20. They were ten and eight years old when their father, Barack Obama, became America’s first Black president in 2008.

Michelle opened up about how her daughters are doing in college and away from home. Before getting into the details, Michelle joked and said “bye,” indicating she’s not stressed about sending the girls “out the nest.” However, during the beginning of COVID, Michelle and Barack enjoyed having them home as adults.

The Jasmine Brand points out Michelle said Malia and Sasha are “doing well” and are “amazing young women.” Michelle also spoke on how they’re growing up and reflected on them loving pop boy bands to dating men. Michelle said,“They loved the Jonas Brothers. Now they are bringing grown men home. Before it was just, like, pop bands. Now they have boyfriends and real lives.” The Becoming author also touched on how Malia and Sasha handled Barack’s presidency ending in January 2017, and Michelle she and Barack prepared them for it. She said,

“I listened to what my mother said when she was raising us. She said, ‘I’m not raising babies, I’m raising real people to be out in the world.’ And I kept that in mind with the girls.” She went on to say,

“I mean, they wouldn’t always be in that bubble of the White House, so they had to learn to make their beds. They had to learn how to drive. They had to learn how to be compassionate, independent, responsible people so that they entered the world as responsible, compassionate, capable people. And I think they are amazing young women because of that.”
