Emotions are heavy worldwide after the horrible death of George Floyd on May 25 at the hands of four Minneapolis police.

George Floyd, unarmed, black, and in handcuffs, was pinned to the ground by former officer Derek Chauvin’s (who was fired, alongside the other three officers involved following the incident) knee as Floyd begged for his life and screamed he couldn’t breathe.

This urged hundreds of protesters in Minneapolis to gather on the next day (May 26) near where the incident happened and the police station. Demonstrators chanted “no justice, no peace” and I can’t breathe.” Reported on CNN, a protestor affiliate said “We’re here to let them know this can’t be tolerated, there will be severe consequences if they continue to kill us. This will not go on another day.”

The article also says the crowd grew “unruly” which prompted police in riot gear to throw tear gas and flashbangs into the crowd. Another demonstrator threw a rock at the back of a police’s cruiser which shattered and then police fired non-lethal (but can still cause injuries) rubber bullets at demonstrators, according to a CNN reporter on the scene.

No charges in the case have been filed however, the FBI is investigating. True justice needs to be served.
