It’s Women’s History Month and on Ladies First, I’m honoring incredible women who have changed the game in their industry.

Being an avid fashion lover, there was no better person who fits the bill than Misa Hylton. Misa has over 20 years of styling experience and has dressed some of the biggest names in the industry. From Missy Elliott to Aaliyah to Lil Kim, her ability to set trends instead of following them has made her the go-to-stylist in the industry.

Not only has Misa shaped the fashion world with her unique eye, but she’s also a life coach and inspiring people who want to pursue fashion by molding them into top notch stylists through her Misa Hylton Fashion Academy. If you have a love for fashion but not sure how to turn it into a business, then this school is for you. The school teaches you the ins and outs of the industry, how to turn your skills into a craft while preparing you for whatever field you’re looking to do fashion in. From fashion careers in TV & film, to editorial, to celebrity styling to advertisement, the academy covers all. Some of Misa’s students have went on to be part of styling teams for Beyonce, movie sets, TV shows and more so needless to say, she knows what she’s talking about.

Now, let’s circle back to what Misa has already done, and I’ll leave it at this. You know videos like Mary J Blige’s “Not Gon’ Cry” or Lil Kim’s “Crush On You” or even Kim’s famous lavender outfit at the VMAs? Yes, that one? Misa is the mastermind behind it!

Watch as Misa breaks down some of the iconic looks she’s created and the gems of stories she shares about being part of the Bad Boy family during that amazing era. She reveals she and Puff started out the label in the basement of their home and her first reaction upon meeting Biggie. Did you know he thanks her on each of his albums?
