The first COVID-19 Omircon variant was found in the NBA.
The NBA has not revealed who tested positive for the new variant, but, sports reporter Shams Charania shared via Twitter, “the NBA’s first known player case of the Omicron variant was discovered in a recent positive COVID-19 test. The CDC estimates the new variant is now three percent of US cases..”

The new variant has reportedly first shown up in South Africa about a month ago, and since has spread across the world. There hasn’t been an update to the NBA’s Covide protocol as of yet.
