Netflix Cheer star, Jerry Harris is facing 15-20 years in prison.
According to news sources, the 21-year-old actor is under FBI investigation for exploiting and violating underaged boys. Harris was arrested and jailed last month, he’s currently still behind bars, and prosecutors said it would be “unsafe” to let him out. They consider him a “brazen sexual predator” who can’t control his sexual urges and they don’t want him to harm any more children.
Back in September, Harris allegedly admitted to authorities to having oral and anal sex with a 15-year-old at a 2019 cheer event. Harris was 20 at the time. In a recent filing on Tuesday (October 13), prosecutors are looking to bring more charges against Harris. In the filing, it says Harris followed a male victim into an unlocked bathroom and allegedly sodomized him. The documents also alleged Harris used his earnings from the Netflix show Cheer, to offer up to $1000 for boys to perform sexual acts over Facetime or Snapchat for his sexual gratification.
Another source reports there are up to 10 male victims as young as 13. Harris is facing a minimum of 15 years if convicted. Harris’s legal team is denying the allegations and Harris hasn’t entered a plea as of yet. The Chicago Tribune reports Harris’ lawyers are asking a federal judge to release Harris on home detention pending trial, arguing he suffers from asthma and is at risk for COVID-19 in jail. However, prosecutors are fighting against it.
