New Jersey Stay-At-Home Order Extended Indefinitely According To Gov. Phil Murphy

According to reports, New Jersey’s Gov. Phil Murphy has extended the stay-at-home order indefinitely amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Gov. Murphy outlines the path to reopening the state, dubbed “The Road Back,” includes six guiding principles to ensure public health is not put at risk:

  • Sustained reduction in new cases;
  • Expanded testing;
  • Implement robust contact tracing;
  • Securing safe places for isolation;
  • Securing safe places for isolation;
  • Responsible economic restart ensuring resiliency.

Now, the first four steps must be achieved before reopening, according to Murphy.

“I want, by the way, nothing more than to see every Main Street up and down the state filled with shoppers and diners once again,” Murphy said.

For now, the stay-at-home order will remain in effect in its entirety “until further notice,” Murphy said. A decision hasn’t been made as far as the reopening of schools, but a decision will be made before May 15th.
