A news anchor from Los Angeles station KTLA, has issued an apology to Cardi B for assuming that she was trying to incite violence during the protests.

Cardi has been very vocal on social media about police brutality, and the injustices happening around the world. She uses her platform to spread awareness, knowledge and state her opinion on political, racial, and social issues. On Friday, she posted a video on Instagram about the looting protesting happening around the world. She mentions, “Seeing people looting and going extremely outraged, it makes me feel like ‘Yes! Finally! Finally, motherf*ckers is gonna hear us now,’” she stated. “And as much as people is so against it, at this point, I feel like I’m not against it even though it do scare me and I don’t want anybody to get hurt.”

A news anchor in L.A. misconstrued her words and thought she was promoting voilence, but later apologized when he figured out she wasn’t. He says, “I apologize to @iamcardib if I took her words out of context. I respect her for using her platform to connect with people during these difficult times and it was wrong of me to not let her full voice be heard. I will make sure that is corrected during my next segment.”
