Nick Cannon speaks on his decision not to let his 5-month-old son, Zen receive chemotherapy.

He explained that he, along with Zen’s mother, Alyssa Scott chose to opt-out of chemotherapy treatments for their son to make him comfortable during the brief time that they had with him. It was announced that the baby passed away from cancer on December 5th.

While on his talk show, Cannon revealed that they found out about Zen’s cancer after taking him doctor to find out why he was having trouble breathing regularly and having a persistent cough. He was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was 2-months-old.

In a recent interview, Cannon said, “We were having quality-of-life conversations. We could have had that existence where he would’ve had to live in the hospital, hooked up to machines, for the rest of the time.”

He continued, “From someone who’s had to deal with chemotherapy before, I know that pain. To see that happen to a 2-month-old, I didn’t want that. I didn’t want him to suffer.”

Cannon also stated that he spent as much time with Zen over the Thanksgiving holiday.
