Nicki Minaj Responds To J. Prince Urging Her + Kanye, Drake & More To Hold A ‘Hip Hop’ Show On Grammy Night
J. Prince has an idea…but it would require some help from the hip-hop community.
J. Prince wants hip-hop power players to boycott the Grammys and host a show the night of the Awards.
On social media, the Rap-A-Lot Records founder sounded off in a voice recording on the recording academy for banning
from performing due to his behavior online amid Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson drama. In the recording,
called Grammy organizers “slave masters.” He said,
“I’ve been watching the Grammys control and dictate our culture to their benefit up close and personal for the past 30 years.” He continued,
“And all the artists, managers and executives would do is complain, but never have the nuts to come together to do anything about it.” He went on to say,
“This is a slave master, punish a n*gga mentality and act to remind us that no matter how much money we have, we’re still niggas in their eyes.” He went on,
“So they cancel Kanye and discriminated against
, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj and many others over the years. This will only be broken by us uniting our powers to bring about change moving forward.”
According to J. Prince, the solution would be for artists like Kanye, Drake,
, and more to unite and hold a hip-hop concert in Las Vegas on the same night as the Grammy Awards.
Artists except Nicki haven’t publicly responded as of yet. The Queen put “respect” with a prayer emoji under Prince’s post.
