The legal team of Kenneth Petty’s rape victim is speaking out.
Jennifer Hough’s attorney, Tyrone A. Blackburn, gave XXL a statement after Petty claimed Hough was a “willing participant.” The statement says, “A willing participant would not run 20 blocks to school after a sexual encounter and tell the school security/police that she was raped,” Blackburn stated.” It continued, “If Petty believed Ms. Hough was a willing participant, he should have never [pleaded] guilty to attempted rape.”
Court documents obtained by the publication earlier in the week says Petty insists he didn’t rape Hough and that their moment together was consensual. Petty also states he pleaded guilty to “attempted rape” to avoid a harsher sentence.
Houghs alleges that when she was 16, she was raped by Petty in 1994, 15 at the time. In 1995, Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape. He served nearly 4 years at a NY state prison and was required to register as a sex offender.
The Pettys have always denied the allegations. Back in 2019, during an episode of Nicki’s Apple Music radio show, Queen Radio, the “Yikes” rapper said Jennifer wanted to recant her story in 1995 but allegedly changed her mind when she learned she could serve jail time for filing a false report. However, Houghs denied she ever tried to change her story.
Houghs also claims The Petty’s have allegedly harassed her multiple times. As a result, this year, Hough’s filed a lawsuit against them for “intentional infliction of emotional distress, harassment, and witness intimidation.”
