Could this be the biggest fight available?

Back in 2013, a young fighter by the name of Canelo Alvarez faced off against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather JR., for one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The fight ended like every other one of Mayweather’s opponents and the then 23-year-old lost by majority decision.

Five years later, Alvarez is at the top of his game, and would like a chance to bring Mayweather back from retirement, and back into the boxing ring for a chance to change his undefeated record.

His promoter Oscar De La Hoya is trying to make it happen by claiming to TMZ Sports, that the rematch between the two could make about $1.5 billion.

Mayweather reportedly made approximately $73,000,000 during their last matchup. Since then he has seen astronomical purses including $250,000,000 + for his fight against Manny Pacquiao, and $100,000,000 after facing Conor McGregor.

Canelo is facing Daniel Jacobs May 4. If he wins decisively, maybe there is a chance Mayweather will come out of retirement for another big payday.

Or Mayweather could return to face Manny Pacquiao who recently defeated Adrian Broner.
