Robert Kelly is on trial!
In the latest report, a Jane Doe testified at a Brooklyn Federal Courthouse some alarming news. She claims the disgraced singer allegedly married the late R&B singer, Aaliyah, to get an abortion.
At the time, Aaliyah was 15, and R. Kelly was 27. As reported in the Huff Post, Jane Doe said one of his girlfriends asked him why he married Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in 2001; he reportedly said, “only parents and spouses could legally permit a minor to get an abortion.” The Jane Doe also claims Kelly gave Aaliyah money “and a secret bat phone for her to reach him in case of an emergency.”
The article also notes that Aaliyah is also named a Jane Doe in the federal case. Kelly’s former tour manager Demetrius Smith reluctantly testified and “admitted to bribing someone he knew at the welfare office with $500 for Aaliyah to obtain a fake ID so she and Kelly could get married.” Smith said,
“It shouldn’t have happened. It was wrong. I shouldn’t be talking about Aaliyah ’cause she’s not here.”
Kelly is charged with one count of racketeering and four counts of violating the Mann Act. We’ll keep you updated as the case continues!
