R. Kelly gets his wish.
After arguing about being put in solitary confinement as he awaits his trial in jail, a judge has decided to grant his wish to be moved to general population.
His lawyer, Steven Greenberg seemed to be happy about the decision.
“We filed a motion with the court,” he said. “The jail took the appropriate action and moved him,”
According to the Chicago Tribune, R. Kelly initially argued against the move to general population due to his popularity after his arrest during a phone call.
“If I go to population,” he allegedly said, “I’m just up on everybody and everybody’s up on me, and I’m trying to figure out how to trust that or whatever. You know, and that’s why, I was like, hmmm, too many people up on you and I done seen too many movies, you know, and it’s just, and then I’m so popular here, it’s like yeah man.”
The singer will be facing trial on April 27, 2020 on charges of alleged sexually abuse, and paying off witnesses and victims in exchange for their silence as part of his 2008 trial. The date reportedly could move according to the Chicago Tribune based on issues that can surface during other charges in New York, and Minnesota.
Kelly is still hoping to be granted bail before his trial can begin.
