R.Kelly’s lawyer is speaking out about the singer being attacked behind bars.
It was recently reported that R.Kelly was attacked by a fellow inmate, Jeremiah Farmer. Reports say that Farmer tried to gain media attention for his racketeering case when he decided to attack Kelly.
On Friday, the singer’s legal team filed a claim stating that the Metropolitan Correctional Center’s surveillance footage shows the attacker “walking a great distance before carrying out that act, without any opposition.”
Michael Leonard, Kelly’s lawyer wrote, “An unresolved issue remains as to whether MCC personnel encouraged, and then allowed, a beating of Mr. Kelly to take place. That alone merits an evidentiary hearing.”
Kelly’s team is looking to question Farmer about the incident in an effort to have Kelly released on bond.
