How disgusting and disrespectful!
Three University of Mississippi students thought it was cool to pose with guns in front of Emmit Till’s memorial.
The distasteful students have been suspended from their fraternity house and face investigation by the Department of Justice, according to a report.
The article also says, “U.S. Attorney Chad Lamar of the Northern District of Mississippi in Oxford said the information has been referred to the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division for further investigation. ‘We will be working with them closely,’ he said Thursday.
University officials called the photo “offensive and hurtful.”
Emmit Till’s Memorial appears to have bullets on it and it’s unclear if the students are the ones who put them there.
The FBI said they won’t further investigate because the picture “doesn’t pose a threat.”

The Emmit Till plaque is where his body was recovered from the Tallahatchie River. He was only 14 when he was tortured and murdered in August 1955. An all-white, all-male jury acquitted two white men accused of the murder. Today, (July 25) Emmit would have been 78.
