It was alleged that Jussie Smollett wrote a check to the two actor brothers, to pay for his alleged “staged” attack. Things may be working in Smollett’s favor as some text messages have surfaced of a conversation between him and one of the brothers. Via the messages, Jussie and Abel, were planning out his new diet and workout regimen- and the payment was meant for personal training reasons.

Reportedly, the $3,500 check Jussie wrote was written  to Abel on January 23, 2019, which is just six days before the “attack.” The memo line reads, “5 week Nutrition/Workout program Don’t Go.”  Don’t Go is a song title that Jussie was shooting a music video for where he’d be shirtless.

The text messages also show Abel giving Smollett nutrition advice. One of the text messages from Abel to Smollett actually reads “I know you’re traveling today, make sure you get at least 45 mins of cardio.”  Which was sent just one day for before the alleged attack.

According to TMZ, the breakdown of the $3,500 is $600 a week for the workout plan for 5 weeks, and $100 a week for the nutrition plan for 5 weeks.
