Universal’s 1999 classic, The Best Man, is returning to television!
As reported on Deadline, the movie’s storyline will continue with a limited series. The streaming service Peacock ordered 10-episodes and the series is called, The Best Man: The Final Chapters.
The movie’s original writer and director Malcolm D. Lee and former Insecure executive producer Dayna Lynne North have their hands tied in the production. The original cast from the film will return, which includes, Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Harold Perrineau. The only actor that won’t be on this series is Monica Calhoun, whose character died in the sequel, The Best Man Holiday.
The article also reports the actors closed “significant” seven-figure deals. The limited series will reportedly “catch up with Harper, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, Candace, and Murch as relationships evolve and past grievances resurface in the unpredictable stages of midlife crisis meets midlife renaissance,” Deadline reports.
