Ridesharing services like Uber Lyft want you to get to the polls this year! Reported on Forbes, the ride-sharing services are offering reduced price rides to polling places or ballot drop off boxes on Election Day. Lyft will give users a promo code valid on November 3 for “50% off, up to a maximum of $10, for a one-way Lyft car or scooter ride, or a Lyft-operated bike-share ride to a polling place anywhere in the U.S. with Lyft service, including registered drop box locations for some voters who live in states that favor mail-in voting, the article reports. Lyft is also working with non-profit groups like Black Women’s Roundtable, National Federation of the Blind, and the Student Veterans of America to offer free rides and various discount codes. They also partnered with LeBron James to provide rides to arena polling locations in Atlanta, Charlotte, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Orlando. The company said they can’t offer a free round trip ride because, under election guidelines, they bar providing gifts or incentives in exchange for voting. Uber will make an official announcement in October, but they teamed up with TurboVote to help people register to vote or request an absentee ballot through the Uber and Uber Eats apps. The app will send a reminder push notification in the U.S., but said it will not have access to information about the user’s party affiliation, the article reports. Lime, a bike, and the scooter-sharing company will also provide free, socially distanced scooter rides on Election Day. Users will receive a promo code. Make sure you VOTE this Election.
