Vic Mensa is not stepping back from his words.
This past weekend, the rapper took a jab at XXXTentacion who was shot and killed earlier this year in a BET Hip Hop Awards during a cypher that aired.
News of this went viral when DJ Scheme wrote a tweet detailing some of the lyrics that was spit.

“Your favorite rapper is an abuser” and then follow it with a line saying “some shit X some shit so I won’t live long” u can deny it but everyone who was there heard that shit— 999 SCHEME (@DJSCHEME_) October 7, 2018
To make things a bit worse, XXXTentacion’s mother Cleopatra Bernard was in the audience as the artist was given the award for Best New Artist.
The Chicago rapper went onto Instagram to defend his words, but also apologize to XXXTentacion’s mother.
“I had no idea a grieving mother would be in the audience to honor her lost son,” he said. “However, I vehemently reject the trend in hip hop of championing abusers, and I will not hold my tongue about it.”

The BET Hip Hop Awards are due to air October 16.
