SZA is opening up about her relationship with Drake.
The two dated around 2009 when they were in the early stages of their career, The Jasmine Brand reports. During a recent interview, the “Snooze” singer said, “We were really young. It wasn’t hot and heavy or anything. It was like youth vibes. It was so childish.”
In 2020, in “Mr. Right Now” with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, Drizzy spilled the tea. In the song, he raps, “Yeah, said she wanna f*** to some SZA, wait/’Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”
At the time, SZA confirmed the news, but corrected a few things. She Tweeted, “So It was actually 2009 lol .. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace.
She also shut down rumors that their romance was “inappropriate.” In a follow-up post, she said, “I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening. Completely innocent. Lifetimes ago.”
Despite the past, the two artists are on good terms. They collaborated for the first time on Drake’s “Slime You Out.” It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
