Could it be a wrap for Carmelo Anthony’s career as a New York Knick?

The forward recently said he wasn’t interested in waiving his no-trade clause. But that hasn’t stopped Phil Jackson from trying to bring a bigger dream team to Cleveland.

According to Marc Stein and Chris Haynes of ESPN.com the Knicks called the Cavaliers and proposed a trade of Carmelo Anthony for Kevin Love.

League sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that the Knicks have approached the Cavaliers to gauge their interest in swapping All-Star forwards but were told that Cleveland is not interested in such an exchange.

The Knicks’ thinking, sources said, is that they would have gone to Anthony to discuss waiving his no-trade clause had Cleveland shown interest in the deal. Anthony is one of only three NBA players with a full-no trade clause in his contract, alongside Cleveland’s LeBron James and the Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki.

The move would have left the Knicks with two talented big men and a big gap in the small forward position. Meanwhile, Cavaliers are in need of a backup point guard, and that wouldn’t quite help that matter. Also, in the case of Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, and Carmelo Anthony not sure if there’s enough time to give the ball to everyone.

Knicks fans would you accept this trade?
