Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have been very tight lipped about their rumors throughout years of rumors about how stable their relationship was.

They left all the juice for their family series Red Table Talk, where the couple actually spoke outloud about the crazy history of their relationship and some of their troubles.

One of the craziest stories occured while Will was starring on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Jada was auditioning for a role. At the time she was also on the cast of A Different World, and Will was dying to meet her. According to Jada, she and Alfonso Ribeiro who is famously known for his role as “Carlton”, went on one date together. He then tried to set up so Will can meet Jada during her show. While his plans were to meet Jada for the first time, another friend was with a woman named Sheree Zampino. They hit it off and ended up later marrying her, not even seeing Jada that day.

“We had all these near misses and every time we saw each other,” he said. “It was always a beautiful energy. [The first time we talked,] it was a really unique, beautiful power. We had that moment. We connected, but I was married and that was it.”

He and Zampino divorced in 1995, and that day he called Jada to tell her they were then together.

Ribeiro reportedly denied that he had dated Jada as seen in a now deleted Twitter post.

Other topics during the half hour show include their struggles as a married couple, and why Jada didn’t want to get married in the first place.
