Will Smith says he'd completely understand if "no one" went to go see his new movie Emancipation following the infamous Oscars slap.

“I completely understand — if someone is not ready, I would absolutely respect that and allow them their space to not be ready,” Smith told Fox 5’s Good Day DC journalist Kevin McCarthy. “My deepest concern is my team – Antoine [Fuqua] has done what I think is the greatest work of his entire career. The people on this team have done some of the best work of their entire careers, and my deepest hope is that my actions don’t penalize my team. At this point, that’s what I’m working for.”

The movie premieres in theaters December 2 and will be Smith's first time hitting the big screen since the 'slap heard across the world'. Following the incident, Will did issue an apology to Chris Rock but it still seems as if many people are still outraged about the incident.

Will you be going to see Will Smith in Emancipation? It will begin streaming on Apple TV+ on December 9th.
