Reported on CNN, authorities in Vietnam seized 345,000 condoms that were used, “cleaned off,” and then resold as new.
Police confiscated the condoms at a warehouse. The bag weighed more than 360 kilograms which is equivalent to 794 lbs! The owner of the warehouse said they receive a “monthly input” of the used condoms from an unidentified person.
The article reports they took the used condoms, boiled them, dried it, reshape it with a wooden phallus and then repackage/resell it. A woman was detained from the warehouse and told authorities she gets .17 cents for every kilogram of recycled condoms she makes, reported in the article.
It’s not even clear if the woman or the warehouse owner will face charges, CNN reports they weren’t available for comment. It’s also not clear how many of the used condoms were resold or WHERE they were shipped off to.
