Keyshia Cole stopped by HOT 97 to talk to Nessa about the 20th anniversary of her debut album The Way It Is. She shared stories from her early days, including working with MC Hammer and meeting Tupac, and reflected on how the album came together and how much she’s grown since then. She talked about what success has taught her, how becoming a mother changed her, and how her kids have influenced the way she sees herself. She revealed she never liked her hit song “Love” and gave backstory on other tracks like “I Should’ve Cheated,” “I Just Want It to Be Over,” and “I Changed My Mind.”
She also shared her reaction to GloRilla sampling “Love,” freestyling “Let It Go” in the studio with Missy, and addressed the tattoo she has of her ex Hunxho and whether it’s still there. To wrap up, she played a game of What Would Keyshia Do, giving her take on relationship situations including love bombing, exes showing up to shows, and getting surprise apology messages. The Way It Is 20th Anniversary Tour kicks off July 1st. Tickets are available now.
