50 Cent offered rare praise for the NFL’s decision to stick with JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation despite the sexual assault lawsuit against the rapper.

According to reports, though he’s been quick to joke about the allegations in recent days, he called NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s announcement “good news.” The rapper wrote in an Instagram post, “This good news the NFL is gonna hold it down [football emoji].” “Super Bowl is gonna be popping.”

Goodell expressed, “We’re aware of the civil allegations and JAY-Z’s really strong response to that.” “We know the litigation is happening now so from our standpoint, our relationship is not changing with them, including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.”

He continued, “I think they’re getting incredibly comfortable with not just the Super Bowl but other events they’ve advised us on and helped us with.” “They’ve been a big help in the social justice area to us on many occasions. They’ve been great partners.”

Fewer than two months prior, the NFL renewed its partnership with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation, a collaboration Commissioner Roger Goodell described as “mutually positive relationship.”

JAY-Z’s NFL Partnership Under Scrutiny Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

In 2019, JAY-Z partnered with the NFL in a $25 million agreement spanning five years, as reported by ESPN. The terms and value of their latest arrangement remain undisclosed. Meanwhile, the Roc Nation founder faces allegations of sexually assaulting a teenager at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

Filed in October, the lawsuit initially named Diddy as a defendant while JAY-Z was discreetly identified as “Celebrity A.” In an unusually candid statement from Roc Nation, JAY-Z denounced the allegations and the lawyer representing the claimant, calling them a “fraud” and accusing them of trying to “blackmail” him.
