After surviving a near-fatal shooting earlier this year, Detroit rapper Skilla Baby is preparing a comeback—this time with a major co-sign from 50 Cent.

The veteran mogul isn’t just offering words of support. He’s narrating Skilla’s forthcoming album, The Price of Fame, helping frame the rapper’s next chapter with the same dramatic touch that made 50 a legend in his own right. Though the project has no official release date yet, early signs point to a rollout with heavyweight backing.

According to TMZ, 50 joined Geffen Records executive Aaron “Dash” Sherrod for a private listening session at Interscope’s Santa Monica headquarters last week. In a room full of producers, artists, and execs, the two introduced Skilla’s new work—marking a pivotal moment for the rising Detroit MC. Industry names in attendance included producers Hitmaka, Bongo By The Way, DJ Toomp, and Go Grizz, alongside Million Dollaz Worth of Game hosts Gillie and Wallo.

Skilla turns pain into power—with 50 Cent in his corner

Skilla, who’s been recovering from the shooting since May, spoke candidly about channeling his pain into his art. “I just want to get my lick back through the music,” he told the room. 50 Cent, never one to shy away from blunt honesty, responded with a knowing smirk: “Or you could get your lick back for real.”

That dynamic—grit mixed with guidance—runs throughout The Price of Fame, a project shaped by Skilla’s years of steady output and sharpened by personal trauma. After the shooting, he released a freestyle addressing the incident directly, signaling that he’s not ducking the moment—he’s writing through it.

Having built a loyal regional following since 2019, Skilla Baby now finds himself at a crossroads. With 50 Cent in his corner and a growing industry spotlight, The Price of Fame may become more than a comeback. It could be the moment he crosses over. No official date has been announced, but the album’s momentum is building—and Skilla’s next move is already turning heads.
