On Tuesday (Nov. 26), 50 Cent and his G-Unity organization partnered with the Houston Rockets to provide Houston families with turkeys on Thanksgiving. In addition to turkeys, families will receive meals and tickets to upcoming games. 50 Cent revealed to a KPRC Houston Life reporter how the partnership came to fruition. “Initially, we did a deal to be their official cognac and champagne, but they went with Ciroc.” Fifty said. “[But] that allowed me the opportunity to connect with their philanthropy, and it’s the most important part of the deal.”
Sarah Joseph, VP of Community and Events for the Houston Rockets, praised the Power creator and thanked him for his service. “Thanks to 50 and his G-Unity foundation,” Joseph said. “He’s shown up [in] [a] really big [way] to give a 1,000 turkeys, [and] I don’t know how he’s able to do it because it’s hard to source these turkeys. But every year, he’s shown up to do that.”
50 Cent Celebrates Louisiana’s Film Tax Credit Approval
50 Cent is celebrating a pivotal victory as Louisiana has chosen to maintain its tax credit program for film and television productions. The program, which offers a 40 percent tax reduction on production expenses, faced potential elimination earlier this year. However, the Louisiana Senate Committee voted to preserve the incentive, albeit with a reduced annual cap of $125 million, down from $150 million.
For 50 Cent, who is spearheading the development of G-Unit Film & TV Studios in Shreveport, this decision ensures the viability of his ambitious projects. Expressing his relief, the rap mogul took to Instagram, saying, “Man, they had my ass sweating! WTF, we back in action. Watch. GLG GreenLightGang—I’m coming with some heat.”
Earlier this month, the House of Representatives voted to end the tax credit, a move that threatened to undermine his investments in the state. Reflecting on the initial uncertainty, he shared, “This doesn’t feel good, but it could be great for Louisiana. Patience—let’s see how it plays out.”
