A$AP Rocky is clearing the air about a viral moment from 2023 as anticipation builds for his upcoming album “Don’t Be Dumb“. In a new Vogue Life in Looks interview, the Harlem rapper addressed the incident where he used a woman’s shoulder to climb over a barricade outside The Carlyle Hotel ahead of the Met Gala.

“I was trying to get in my room, I was gonna be late for the Met Gala,” he explained. “I was trying to get in my room, and this poor young little lady, man, I didn’t even know that I messed up her glasses. Again, I apologize. I’m so sorry. I ain’t mean to do that, sweetheart. My fault.”

The barricade moment gained attention online after the woman posted a selfie on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “A$AP Rocky just literally jumped over me.” Rocky later responded to her tweet, writing, “LOL MY FAULT $WEETHEART.” She playfully replied, “I’m printing this on a t-shirt. Why is A$AP now oomf?”

Rocky arrived at the Karl Lagerfeld-themed gala in a standout look that included a kilt over jeans, one glove, and heavy accessories. “Sometimes I’m just embodying that spirit. Was just paying homage to his look at one of the shows that he did,” he said, speaking on Lagerfeld. “We kind of wanted to exaggerate the kilt a little bit so it could feel more grand… I was just like, ‘Man, I’m going full throttle today.’ We gonna do one glove. We gonna do some Michael Jackson s**t, you know, we want all of the belts like Karl… This is when over-accessorizing goes right.”

While “Don’t Be Dumb” still has no official release date, Rocky has confirmed he’s back in the studio following his not guilty verdict in a 2022 shooting case.
