Doechii recently found herself at the center of controversy after a viral Met Gala clip showed her demanding additional umbrellas to protect her outfit before stepping onto the red carpet. The incident sparked a harsh response from popular streamer Adin Ross, who launched into a tirade against the rapper during a Kick stream. Ross called Doechii an “entitled” “industry plant,” and slammed her music, claiming that her hit “Anxiety” was a ripoff of Gotye and Kimbra’s 2011 song “Someone That I Used to Know,” despite the fact the sample was legally cleared.
In his rant, Ross further criticized Doechii’s behavior, especially her attitude toward staff members during the Met Gala. He was particularly upset by her demand for umbrellas, shouting, “Where’s the ‘please’? Where’s the ‘may I’? What a cunt, bro. Holy fuck.” He went on to insult her music, declaring, “She has zero talent,” and questioned why artists like Playboi Carti and Abel would even work with her.
The backlash to Ross’ comments came quickly on social media, with some users calling him out for perpetuating negativity without original thought. Others criticized him for targeting Doechii, especially in light of his past controversies. One user wrote, “Adin Ross has never came up with an original thought in his life,” while another remarked on his apparent disdain for Kendrick Lamar’s involvement with Doechii.
Meanwhile, Doechii responded to the backlash on TikTok, poking fun at the situation. “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas ☂️😂,” she joked, adding, “This was the night we all dreamed of and my team killed it (umbrellas aside) 😭🥴.” Her lighthearted response contrasted with Ross’ harsh criticism, leaving fans divided over the exchange.
