Aubrey O’Day didn’t hold back when addressing her former boss, Diddy, during her appearance on The Masked Singer. But those close to the embattled music mogul are pushing back, reminding her not to “bite the hand that fed you.”
A source with direct knowledge of the situation tells TMZ that O’Day owes much of her success to Diddy. It was his decision to cast her on Making the Band, launching her career as a member of Danity Kane nearly two decades ago. The source also noted that Diddy has only been detained and has yet to stand trial, emphasizing that O’Day’s remarks are premature.
During her reveal, O’Day took another jab, referencing how Diddy legally changed his middle name to “Love” years ago. But instead of embracing that sentiment, she formed a heart shape with her hands, reclaiming the word on her own terms.
Diddy is currently incarcerated, facing federal charges that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation for prostitution. His trial is set for May.
Danity Kane has remained relatively quiet about Diddy’s recent arrest, but the group’s history with the Bad Boy mogul adds weight to the conversation. As former members of Making the Band, they experienced firsthand his controversial leadership style, which Aubrey O’Day has openly criticized for years.
Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard, and other former members have largely avoided public statements. However, past interviews suggest mixed feelings—some credit Diddy for launching their careers, while others acknowledge the difficulties they faced under his management.
While the group hasn’t released an official statement, O’Day’s comments suggest at least some members feel validated by recent events. With Diddy’s trial set for May, the conversation surrounding his influence on Danity Kane—and the music industry as a whole—will likely continue to evolve.
