BEL-AIR, the hit drama series from Peacock, has been renewed for its fourth and final season.
The stellar cast includes Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones.
Premiering on Peacock on February 13, 2022, the series has become a fan-favorite earning critical acclaim.
The series stems from Morgan Cooper’s(executive producer) four-minute spec trailer that he wrote and directed. After its release, the video quickly went viral in March 2019 and garnered more than 7.7 million views on YouTube.
Set in modern-day Los Angeles,” BEL-AIR reimagines the iconic culture-defining ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The series is a dramatic take on Will’s journey from West Philadelphia to “the gated mansions of Bel-Air.” Throughout the series, Will deals with the power of second chances while navigating conflicts and emotions. He must now grow up in a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.
The series has featured original cast members from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, Vernee Watson-Johnson, and Daphne Maxwell Reid. Also, guest stars such as Bianca Belair, Bill Bellamy, Justin Cornwell, Andra Day, Melissa De Sousa, Nicholas Duvernay, Dulé Hill, Anna Maria Horsford, April Parker Jones, Melanie Liburd, Jazlyn Martin, Vic Mensa, DK Metcalf, Saweetie, Alycia Pascual-Peña, David Ramsey, Karrueche Tran, Joivan Wade and Marlon Wayans have appeared in episodes.
In an interview with HOT97, Akingbola, who plays Jefferey, spoke about the impact of the show.
“All the comments that I received, I just thank you all for my heart and it’s humbling. It also makes me tear up sometimes because I’m a fan of the original show, and those moments remind me that I’m in the show. I don’t take it for granted because this is a special show. A lot of people were worried that we were going to mess it up,” Akingbola laughed.
