Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter album may not have made waves during the award season so far, but rumors suggest it could lead to a Grammy showdown. Sources say the album has been submitted for a key category at the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Recording Academy’s screening committee recently convened to finalize submissions for the February 2 event at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Beyoncé’s country album is reportedly among the top contenders for Best Country Album.
This marks a notable development for Beyoncé, as it comes seven years after her country-tinged track “Daddy Lessons” from the Lemonade album was snubbed by the Recording Academy. However, Cowboy Carter has become one of the year’s biggest releases, potentially giving her a better shot at Grammy recognition. This follows a recent disappointment when Beyoncé failed to secure nominations at the CMA Awards and went zero for 17 at the People’s Choice Country Music Awards.
In addition to Beyoncé’s potential nomination, The Hollywood Reporter also highlighted Sabrina Carpenter as a leading contender for Best New Artist. She’s expected to face off against emerging talents such as Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, and Megan Moroney.
Despite previous setbacks in the country music realm, Beyoncé’s latest effort may pave the way for her long-awaited recognition in the genre. Queen Bey has won 17 Grammys but never the “Best Album” category.
Beyonce released her new collaboration with Levi on Sunday, reprising the classic Levi 501 Jean “Launderette” campaign. Cowboy Carter’s “Levii’s Jeans” in March 2024 resulted in a 19.87% increase in Levi’s foot traffic, according to Adweek.
Bey’s award-winning SirDavis whiskey brand has become a popular liquor brand after its release last month.
