On Monday (July 15), Big Sean surprised fans by sharing his verse from an unreleased Ye-produced song. Unveiling the track during Instagram Live, Sean shared that the track may appear on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s anticipated album, Vultures II.
“When I linked with Ty, he told me they might be using this sh*t for ‘Vultures II,’ so I don’t know but I’ll let you hear this,” said Big Sean as the song began to play.
Titled “Fighting Fires,” the 36-year-old entertainer raps, “We in this b*tch, back focused, right / F*ck that overnight success, I want it over life / I’m overseeing what I’m seeing, f*ck a oversight / From the other side of the screen like a poltergeist / I’m in this b*tch dropping gems like I’m off the ice / They had to name they son Sean cause the boy that bright, right.”
Sean talks about his catalog, legacy, and lyrical abilities throughout the verse. He has often been referenced in conversations with the best rappers of the era, alongside Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole.
In April, Sean began the rollout of his upcoming album with two new freestyles called “Clarity” and “Precision.” Over the weekend, he previewed a new collaboration with The Alchemist.
When asked about releasing new music, Sean replied, “This week prolly.”
Eminem’s new album, The Death of Slim Shady, features Big Sean on the new single “Tobey.” The album is the biggest opening of 2024 on Spotify so far and is on pace to sell 290,000 copies in the first week. On July 2, Sean spoke about collaborating with the Rap God on the new album via X.
He tweeted: “Not gon hold you, Slim Shady LP was the first CD i bought wit my own money at Costco.
