Podcaster Bobbi Althoff has publicly requested an interview with President Donald Trump, describing the request as an effort to foster dialogue in a polarized political climate.
“President Trump, if you’re watching this, please, please keep watching. I am asking you to please sit down and have an interview with me,” Althoff said in a clip that surfaced October 2. “I think that perhaps you surround yourself with people who agree with you and maybe you need to hear another perspective.”
The viral host acknowledged that she may not be the “most educated person” to challenge Trump’s views, but emphasized her Republican background as a reason she could connect with him. “I grew up very Republican, very conservative, very Christian,” she said, adding that many of her family members still share those values.
Althoff pointed to her own political shift as an example of how open dialogue can change minds. “At 21, I completely did a 180 and realized that I didn’t know everything and that I was wrong,” she explained. “It’s okay to be wrong and it’s okay to change your mind.” She credited her ex-husband for being willing to question her deeply held beliefs without treating her “like a horrible person.”

She conceded that asking Trump for a conversation might draw criticism, but argued that refusing to engage across ideological lines is part of the problem. “For this world to get better, people need to change their mind and open their mind and form new opinions,” she said.
Althoff also reflected on how her beliefs once conflicted with her own identity. “Even with a mother who is Mexican, I still had beliefs that were hurtful,” she said. “I have a lot of Hispanic Mexican family who holds these beliefs that are hurtful to their own people.”
Her appeal concluded with a plea for openness. “I do think people can change. I changed,” she said. “I’m just trying to do whatever I can to try to make a positive dent in this world because I believe what is happening right now is very scary.”
