Records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office show the Grammy-winning singer remained in custody overnight before her release early Thursday morning. Court records indicate she is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.

Representatives for Spears did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the arrest or the removal of her social media account.

Hours before the arrest, Spears posted a video of herself dancing inside her home. The clip resembled other recent uploads that have circulated online. During the recording, the singer experienced a wardrobe malfunction while dancing to “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit. Spears later edited the video and covered the exposed moment with an emoji.

The arrest follows months of public attention surrounding Spears’ personal life. In late 2025, witnesses reported seeing the singer leave a restaurant in Thousand Oaks before driving away. Some observers claimed the vehicle moved erratically while exiting the parking lot. A restaurant manager later disputed intoxication claims, stating Spears ordered no alcohol during the meal.

Spears has fought several legal battles in recent years, including a conservatorship case. Fans flooded the courtroom with “Free Britney” signs.

The singer regained legal independence in 2021 when a court ended her 13-year conservatorship, closing one of the most scrutinized legal arrangements in modern pop culture.
