Congratulations are in order! Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle, are expecting a baby soon.
Cherelle shares the news via Instagram. She captions a picture of an ultrasound, “can’t believe we’re less than three months away from meeting our favorite human being #BabyGrinerComingSoon#July2024”
The news comes more than two years after Brittney was detained in Russia. Cherelle was very instrumental in helping her wife get released as Griner was switched out of a Russian prison in a one-for-one swap for notorious arms dealer Viktor Bout. The exchange was reportedly approved by President Joe Biden with the help of Cherelle.
“I was hopeless for a lot of days. You try and stay grounded, but I’m human. Still, I would never completely give up hope on my wife’s life.” Cherelle says of the arrested in a previous interview.
